My First Apple Pie

Dad if I made some kind of dessert at mamaw’s what would you like? I texted …The reply was apple or blueberry pie. I told my mamaw (which is my grandmother) that my dad said apple or blueberry pie. “Emma if we made blueberry pie it would be blueberry pie filling out of a can.”She said with a sarcastic tone in her voice. (which meant she didn’t know how to make it)
We both laughed. Apple? I texted back. His reply was: Sounds good.
We went to wally world (or Walmart) and got the apples and pie tin. While we were in Walmart we saw some crazy people. They were dressed like….um…well…just plain kooky. Ok back on subject. After we laughed about the Kooky people’s appearance we went to go check out. Oh my, you wouldn’t believe the problems we had. my mamaw accidentally pressed the spanish button so she didn’t know what to do, and she wouldn’t let me help her. It was as nutty as a fruit cake. After things got sorted out, we got into our car and drove off. My mamaw lives about 5 minutes away from Walmart but it took us 10 to get there. We got stopped at every stop light.
Once we got home I was ready to make the pie. I washed my hands and put on my apron and tied back my hair (out of the kitchen) and washed my hands again. The first step was to cut the crisp delicious apples. Next it was to measure the dry ingredients. While I was measuring the dry ingredients Trouble my mamaw and papaw’s dog came barreling through barking at someone out the window he ran right through my legs I slipped and flour flew everywhere, good thing I’m wearing my apron I thought. After we got everything cleaned up we threw it together, put it in the pie pan, slapped some butter pads on top, covered it with top crust and popped it into the oven. After we put it in the oven we had to wait a whole hour and then bing it was done. We sat it out to cool after i sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on top.
When i left about 5 p.m. we went and ate dinner with friends. After waiting through a whole dinner we went back to my house and ate pie. It was gone within 5 minutes. Everyone was satisfied with the pie but I was proud. There was no more pie when our friends left.
I enjoyed the experience and will more. It is more fun to share yummy things with friends than to eat them alone.
